Webstats

WebFaction supports two website statistics tools, AWStats and Webalizer. These tools parse your website log files and generate reports about visits.

AWStats

AWStats is an open source log analyzer.

Installing AWStats

To set up AWStats:

  1. Log in to the WebFaction control panel.

  2. Click Domains / websites ‣ Applications. The Apps appears.

  3. Click the Add new (add new) button. The Add page appears.

  4. In the Name field, enter a name for the AWStats application.

  5. In the App category menu, click to select AWStats.

  6. In the Extra info field, enter the name of the website record for which you want to generate reports.

For example, if you had a website record named myblog, you would enter myblog in the Extra info field.

  7. Click the Create button. The View page appears with a confirmation message.

  8. Add the AWStats application to a website record.

Reports will generated hourly. In less than one hour, the first website statistics will appear on your new AWStats application.

Webalizer

Webalizer is an open source log analyzer.

Installing Webalizer

To set up Webalizer:

  1. Log in to the WebFaction control panel.

  2. Click Domains / websites ‣ Applications. The Apps appears.

  3. Click the Add new (add new) button. The Add page appears.

  4. In the Name field, enter a name for the Webalizer application.

  5. In the App category menu, click to select Webalizer.

  6. Click the Create button. The View page appears with a confirmation message.

  7. Add the Webalizer application to a website record.

    Note

Webalizer requires that the application’s mount point (its path) be a subdirectory of a domain you wish to monitor. For example, if you have a domain, example.com, and wish to create a Webalizer application for it, the application must be mounted at example.com/path. We recommend that you add the application to the website record to be monitored.
